What's the best product to use to clean the ways on a brand new lathe and, what wax to use after cleaning? Also, what lubricant to use to keep it rust free? I live in FL, so there's lots of humidity.

Thank you
Dick

I've always used mineral spirits to clean the origional packing grease off.
I use WD40 after but lots of folks use Johnson paste floor wax.
If you start getting rust on the lathe or other tools get some rust converter (converts iron oxide to iron phosphate) and go over with 4-0 steel wood before oiling/waxing.

I'm with NC, I use Johnson paste wax monthly--or thereabouts, works well. Along with very fine sandpaper withy palm sander when needed.
