Can you find a small glass bowl that fits the profile and place it in the dip tray?

BassBlaster, took the words right off my key board :) . They do make nice small glass dishes that should fit, check out the dollar store or general dollar if you have one.

I don't think I would use boiled linseed oil as it contains some additives that won't be food safe. I would use walnut oil, mineral oil, or one of the salad bowl finishes.

I've used the salad bowl finish with good success. It's not necessarily designed to build a film finish, but it will do it with no problem. Just keep applying it until the wood is saturated and then keep applying it to get the film build you want. That would prevent any dips from contacting the wood and would be easy to clean.

You'd better hurry up. It's almost Super Bowl time & that will certainly come in handy.

I like that design! I second the glass bowl to use for he dip. I have read, that ANY finish, once dry is food safe. ?????????

Awesome looking bowl! Cool shape, stunning wood with those pretty grains and figures. I'm sure there's great choices for food safe finishes.
