Cherry topped adjustable table

My son needed a bedside table to put an alarm clock. I desided to try my hand at building this colonial style adjustable table. The top is made of cherry and all other components are made from rivened white oak. Most of the mortise and tenon jointery is hand chiseled. I also used the, "beadLock" system to attach the guide block and table top brace. The finish is shellac and poly.

OS, nice craftsmanship. The white oak looks quartersawn, what's rivened?
what is riven?

riven refers to pieces that are split apart from eachother with a froe (which is an edged tool in the shape of an L, where one leg is the blade with the sharpened side out, and one leg is the handle) and mallet(super old school). many chair makers use this technique because it produces pieces with more inherent strength because the pieces are split along the natural grain lines, also because pieces are easier to successfully steam-bend.

Thanks! I know exactly what you're talking about, just didn't know the term for it.
It's 6:00, I'm done learning for the day. :drink:
Really nice crafstmanship. I'm just getting back into the old school tools myself. It has really amazed me just how well and fast they get the job done.
