I just finished this the other day. I'm going to redo the rear legs becasue I didn't have enough 4x4 stock when I made this but I do now. I used mainly handtools to build this. I love antique tools.

nice,nice,nice,nice!I've been wanting to make a low/highboy for a couple years,but just the fan layout alone seems "too" difficult not to mention carving it out of something like curly maple.Was it?

Jon,

It's really not as difficult as you would imagine. Research a little bit at first and see what type of fan you want to try. This fan is all in one plane. It is recessed but it is not convex or concave. Take your time laying it out. Make sure your carving chisels are extremely sharp.

I'm working on a round tilt table in tiger maple. I haven't carved in maple yet so I'm still trying to decide if I want to tackle it. I may just follow a simple design for now until my skills improve.
