You know you have an awesome daughter when you show her the mistakes you've made on the chest of drawers you made for her and she says she loves it because it has character. Unfortunately my first furnature project has a ton of "character"

I "intentionally" make design design flaws to keep each one unique....LOL

At least that's what I tell people.

Well I add a design element tonight. Somehow I drilled one of my holes for the handles at 5 1/2" instead of the required 6 1/2". So.... I got to learn how to use wood filler. Funny thing though, I really wasn't mad when I realized what I did. I just thought, No big deal, just fix it.

It came out ok.

Good to hear... sounds like you've raised her right.

Reputation = what others think about you.

Character = who you are / what you do when nobody would ever know (if you made the "wrong" decision.)

I sleep really good at night.

I'm sure she'll cherrish it all her life.

Considering I use live edge wood with bug chew and rot in place, as well as my own mistakes, I guess my stuff has character up the ying yang.

"Character" is what makes our builds homemade... even perfectly executed work have "character" because the better you get at building furniture, the better you are at hiding the flaws.
