Well after several months of avoiding the project it came time to refinish the deck. It had a Sherwin Williams water based "stain" that I hated. I decided to move to their oil based cedar toner product. But that meant all of the old had to leave. With a combined total of 60 to 70 hours of sanding (trying to get rid of the old stain and grey weathering) and maybe 4 hours of staining we were done.

Nice job, looks like a lot of work but will definitely be worth it. Make that deck last a lot longer.
