After seeing the mahogany vases by Chaincarver Steve I decided to try the idea on a piece of 3.25 x 3.25 red cedar I have had around for 10-12 years. I don't have a band saw so after laying out my curved sections I drilled holes along the outside of the line. I had to drill from both side since my drill press don't have 3.5" of travel. I looked pretty rough when I finished drilling. I used my spindle sander to sand it down to the curved lines. I put a coat of Antique oil on it for the pictures. I will do 2-3 more coats.
I have enough wood left to do 2 more if my kids want one. It is 11.5 tall and has a .75 hole for the candle. I would like to do one as a vase. Where can I get the glass tube?
