I had bought a carving tool set. It includes a double skew type chisel. Like a slanted plow, with the plow forward centered. I am thinking of regrinding it with a 20-degree bottom angle, for the proper angled use. How do I use this plow tool? I can think of few cases where it could be used. Suggestions?
It looks to me to be a picture framers point setting tool. Reground from a 6mm hand tool. It's not polished enough for metal chasing. Could also be used for pushing banded inlays into inside corners. I don't believe it was used as a lathe chisel in that configuration.
I don't believe that is a carving chisel. It looks more like a lathe tool to me. For that the grind would be on a bit of an angle so it would look like this.
