I am going to be building a bookshelf out of 3/4 Cherry ply and was wondering if I could get some ideas from some of you regarding finishing the edges of the front. Thanks if advance.
You could buy a piece of solid cherry and rip 3/16 strips and glue them on, or as GK mentioned buy the pre-glued iron on cherry edge banding.
Check out this site for a supplier:
If you want to add rigidity, you can make a face frame from solid cherry and glue it to the front (including non-movable shelves). Then glue strips of solid cherry banding to the fronts of the movable shelves.
There are several ways to make face frames. I've used pocket screws.
