Fellow arborists..
Across the road from our farm is my cousin’s farm.
This summer a very large oak tree fell into his hay field.
It is not on a fence line or on edge of woods where it might have nails or fence grown into it.
However, after takin circumference measurements and speaking with local forestry service about tree.
We feel it is well over 200 years old.
The circumference at base is 19 ft.
I have includdd pictures..
1 of my saw where I am still 35’ from base and my 42” inch bar almost doesn’t make it fully thru trunk.
second pic is my lady standing next to trunk at base.
If anyone is interested in some large slabs or bigger chunks of this tree.
send me a PM for contact information.
the very bottom of tree rotted off.
But it is solid 90% of trunk.
Let me know as we are gonna finish cuttin this up soon. Brian
