I turned a big one today. I forget how much longer everything takes with bigger bowls. They don't seem to sell well but I can't resist trying to make the most out of a but chunk of wood. It's limb wood, finished green, so I expect it to look a lot different in a few days. I'll post updated pics when the warpage subsides.
American Elm. 17". Walnut oil.

Nice, nice, nicely done!!
That's one reason I look forward to turning elm-- the contrasts and patterns that "show" up. The only downside I have with the elm hereabouts is the sanding challenge.

Sorry. I usually put a little more effort into my pics. The log was pretty asymmetrical so I couldn't get the pattern balanced real well. The warping has begun. It now measures 16.5 x 17.5. I bet it has a way to go yet.
