We made a bar top out of beech with a walnut edge trim. We purchased two part epoxy for the finish but we really don't like the fake plastic look of epoxy.

What is the best finish for durability and wipability for the constant cleaning? This is a commercial application, our sons pub.

Also, we are looking for a source for large cork. The beech wood was once a shipping box, it has a few 1 1/2" holes in it that we would like to plug with cork.

All suggestions appreciated!! Thanks!

You could use the epoxy finish, just don't apply it as thick. If you just want to use something else you could use an oil based polyurethane or a harder finish would be a conversion varnish.

Read on another thread about Monocoat, so we ordered samples of Monocoqt oil for countertops, we'll see what these do. Varnish may be the next choice if these don't work.
