Just a thought I had because a friend was looking to buy a beanbag chair... would it be possible/plausible to fill one with wood shavings? I have more than my fair share of shavings from turning wood, and I'm sure sewing the chair itself would be incredibly easy. Or would the wood not be uhh... beany enough?

I wouldn't use shavings. They might be fluffy if you put them in a trash bag but I think if you would sit on them they would mash together into a clump and get harder every time you would sit on them.

I don't think wood chips and shavings would be that comfortable compared to the beans. The beans just collect and get dispersed like a bunch of girls at a high school sock hop (do they still have those?).

Wood parts would likely be subject to moisture changes/maybe sap, and possibly little critters. That media may develop mold, and could develop odors.
