For a 14" machine, I am planning to get a 1/4" blade for normal use and a 1/2" for resawing. Does this make sense? Does anyone have a blade manufacture they recommend?

Widths seem good to me. As far as a manufacturer, no idea. I buy my bands from my saw sharpener. I tell him I need a 3tpi in a 3/8" wide 19'2" long. He cuts it and welds it.
For tighter radii you might find a 1/4" better suited. I have used Timberwolf from Grizzly. I also weld my own from Starrett bulk stock and find them very reliable and sharp. I can weld up to 3/4" and a down to 1/4".
