Hello everyone! My name is Pat. I guess a short and sweet history of me will work. I was born in New York and lived there until I joined the navy in 2001. By the time I turned 21 I had made a complete circle around the planet. Stationed in San Diego Cali. I left for Iraq headed east and continued until I returned to San Diego. Stopping at various countries on the way (Fiji, England, Iraq, UAE, Dubai, Bahrain, Australia, and East Timor.) During my time in service I also visited Mexico and Canada. After the navy I worked for a few years at IBM in Dutchess county, New York. Now I work for Fairfield nodal a seismic data company that does readings of the sea floor to let oil companies know where to drill for oil and gas. I have an odd work rotation for 4 weeks I'll work 12 hours a day 7 days a week in the Gulf of Mexico. Then I return home for a solid 4 weeks of paid vacation before heading back out.
My wood working history is small. I did truly enjoy all of my projects when I was in school. Made my first chess board while I was still in middle school. For a very long time my only wood working experiences have been simple projects that were more function then display pieces. Tending to be to busy with work, not enough space, or not enough money to start getting a shop together. Now those three stars have finally lined up and I have a good amount of time, a garage of space, and we'll... Let's face it some of these tools are quite expensive so at least now I can put money aside for them  so now I'm looking for something to fill those 6 months a year off.
I've been looking around on this forum for a few weeks now and I'm floored by the amount of skill and knowledge contained here and am looking forward to expanding my knowledge if y'all will have me!

Welcome to the forum. We'll always have an answer to any question you ask because if we don't have one, we'll make one up. Well, OK, *I* will make one up. Some of the guys here actually know what they are talking about
Welcome! Even if I know the answer I still like to make stuff up, you never know it just might work!
