Hello again!

I've been busy designing the grandfather clock over the span of my summer vacation.

And thanks again to the people that helped me on my first post,

But lets get to the point of this post,
I have chime rods that come from an old grandfather clock. In this clock everything was mounted to a big metal plate which was then mounted to the back wall of the clock.
Here are some questions I have,

-Do I need to put metal in between the chime rod mount and wood, or can I put it directly onto the wood?
-Does metal in between effect the sound that is makes?
-Does the sizing of the metal plate have any effect?
-Could I just make it the size of the chime rod mount?

I attached some pictures of the chime rods, the metal plate and the clock inside to get a visual idea. The blue piece will be where I will mount the chime rods.

The clock is not built yet, everything can still be changed!

I've built quite a few grandfather clocks, and only used a metal mount for my first one, I built in when I was a freshman in high school about 50 years ago, and it was just easier to use metal, all the rest have been wood, and have sounded fine
