I had made 3 boxes yesterday, the last one was black walnut. Seems this species had a proclivity for hangs-- at least with me.
Had to get a little creative after I chased one.
It's 4x2.5 inches. Lacquer
Think it "turned" out ok, a little gaudy for my taste, but will look good on someone's dresser.

Good save. I fight with walnut on a regular basis. Really gets bad finishing because the grain raises so much.
