The price sounds steep, but the cool factor is pretty high. Functionally, it probably isn't too far off of turning with a hunk of wood chucked in a hand-held electric drill ( I tried this once with zero success...for lots of reasons).

If you see the lathe around that flea market in the future, maybe you get talk him down to a more reasonable number. I'm very curious how usable something that small would be.
