I've been a carpenter for 11 years but I have always used my bosses tools. So 3 years ago I purchased my first tool, a router. 3 years later I have amassed quite the little collection. There are still a few more big purchases to make it complete but I think I've done pretty good in that short of a time.

The problem is it never ends. I've been accumulating tools for 40 years and still looking for more.

I bought my first machine not quite 2 years ago. now there is 30k pounds worth of cast iron in my shop.

I'm in the 40 year camp as well.......

The problem(opportunity)here was some of the processes we do,there weren't any machines to do it?So went to school,bent every ear that would give me the time of day....then started acquiring equip to,"roll our own".It has been extremely rewarding and our cabinet shop is all the better for it.There pretty much isn't anything we can't build,to include machinery.

Working on machinery "balancing" now.It is a very interesting subject,and am learning a lot.Best of luck to you,hope all your machine deals fall right into place.
