where's my table saw?

I know nothing ....

But my guess is that the grooves in the outfeed table are for a friction free surface. They allow a slight amount of air under the piece so it won't have as much friction over the table.......
They could be a visual guide for the workpiece .....
They could be a means to keep the fence square with the table for certain operations .....

What do I know.... ?
