roughed down one side while screwed to a face plate

Wood Hardwood Table Wood stain Furniture

then flipped her over

Machine tool Machine Lathe Tool accessory Tool

shined her up and into the coles jaws

Audio equipment Auto part Technology Subwoofer Electronic device

and the finished product

Wood Hardwood Table woodworking Carving

finished size is 22 mm high (7/8") by 175mm across (7") and 6.5mm thick (1/4")

Wood Plywood Table Leather Wallet

I would have gone thinner but as I did not do the segmenting myself and had little idea on how well it was glued I thought I'd play it safe.

this is the recess for the dovetail jaws in the bum

Wood Hardwood Table Wood stain Furniture

then I finished it before turning the other side, used shellawax friction polish

Machine

then flipped and did the top. finished the top the same way. Then first time ever i used coles jaws and lined it with paper so as not to damage the finish

Animation Art

and took off the sharp edge of the recess

Dave sort out the swivel head and you could do a small production run seen as you are totally in the swing of it. Very well done for a first platter. Regards Tambotie

Got the swivel head sorted, I want to get to production. I need to get some inertia sanders
Congratulations on your new lathe, Dave -- and well done on this platter. Old chopping boards are great value sources of blanks.
Thanks Duncsuss, I thought is was good value too.

Nicely done and a very good save on the material.

And I still go another blank for a platter plus some pen blanks
