Wife bought cedar chest and the finish is great except a few small places on front. The areas are blacked raised up rough area which I assume is heat blisters from sunlight. How to I go about removing these without having to refinish the whole chest?
Thanks

Can you post a picture? It's hard to guess what the spots are.

Hope this helps
My guess is a raised black spot is some foreign substance or paint has gotten on the surface. You might try a card scraper or single edge razor and try to shave the black off. Then the spot could be lightly sanded and some finish applied to the spot and buffed out.
