Hello all, I am an intermediate level woodworker that has been lucky enough to make a hobby a profession. I have recently been recruited by my parents, who are building a new house, to create an walnut island counter top in their kitchen. Here are a few illustrations to help explain. The wood...

Feeling pretty frustrated here. I don't have a jointer so I put together a planer sled out of 3/4" plywood and have been running my 4/4 walnut stock through it. I've cut the wood down to length, each piece is 26" (final will be 24"). I'm pressing down on the wood on one end and putting shims...

pictures are from a walnut panel I've glued up. Most of this panel will be the bottom of some cubbies and somewhat hidden in shadow in the final piece. I only say this in case it affects your opinion. It's not like it's a table top that'll be constantly bathed in direct light, for instance. But...

Building a dresser for the little one. Carcass is made of a combination of 3/4" ply, sitting on a 3/4" walnut base with more 3/4" walnut on the sides of the dresser. In other words, 3/4" everything. I've been assuming I'd make the walnut drawer faces 3/4" as well. But I'm curious what the...

I bought some live edge walnut that was air dried for about 5 years. After flattening it I notice this greyish bubbly pattern in the sapwood. It's not all along the piece just in a few areas. Is this anything to be concerned about?

Hey everyone iv been working with wood for the past few years now. Mostly been purchasing all my project wood from big box stores. I would like to know where everyone gets the wood from? Hello everyone, Forgive me if this isn’t allowed here, this is my first post. I’m currently working on a piece of European walnut butcher block as a top for my desk. I am using minwax satin poly to coat it with a stain brush. I have done 4 coats of this as each coat has had its issues...

HI, I have a client who wants walnut butcher block table tops for their restaurant. They want them to be 30”x48”. I am just wanting to know if anyone could give their input on pricing for this with either a polyurethane finish vs an epoxy finish. I do not want to under quote myself. I’m thinking...

Hello, I am building a coffee table with a nice Peruvian walnut slab. Being that this species of wood is quite dark, what do you guys think is the best way to finish and to not lose out on its natural beauty. The two products I am looking at is Osmo Polyx-Oil – 3043 Clear Satin or Rubio...

I'm looking to upgrade the look of my bathroom vanity. Instead of replacing it completely I thought I'd just swap the panels. So instead of the plastic-like white, I'd like it to be a nice walnut wood. Basically simple flat panels, like the existing ones. Question is, how? (I'm not experienced...

Hey there! First off a little bit of background: I've always wanted to work with wood but didn't have the chance until now (no space, no money). I only have basic handtools and some handheld power tools, which should be enough to start the obsession  I've received a lot of wood as a gift...
