My dad has been turning wood for only about 4 years. He's really into making pens now and I've been selling them for him. I want to get him a cool gift for Xmas. Perhaps unique acrylic or wood pen blanks (something he can't find at Rockler), tools, etc... Ideas? Budget is between $50 and $200.

Hello, after making a few pens without incident, my recent batch have been splitting when I assemble them. For example, my last 3 padauk pens have all split (I enclose a picture where you can see the crack if you look carefully). My 3 first pens, made of bocote did not. Here is what I do:

i know it depends if its acrylic or wood, if the wood is figured with spalting or burl and if the pen is shaped well
but overall how much could you sell a non figured wooden slimline for? (a simple 20 minute job)
