Showcase cover image for Cheap Garden Planter

General Information

I have started my own woodworking journey as a hobby. I built flower planters because my wife wants more color around. I bought these tools to make these:
  • Metabo Miter Saw
  • Ryobi Drill & Impact Driver Kit
  • A Pocket Hole Jig
  • A Portable Ryboi Table Saw
The material I used:
  • 3 Pressure Treated Pine Fence Picketts/Boards
  • 40-50 Pocket Hole Screws
  • 10-12 Deck Screws

These were recommended by a youtube channel I started watching, bought a lot of these used to keep the cost down. I followed some plans from Etsy to build 8 planters myself.

I started woodworking because I'm cheap. Lowes and Home Depot wanted me to pay $50 each for a plastic POS planters. They were crap. The price for crap is complete nonsense to me! Nothing made of wood, nothing that look good, to me anyway.

Making the first planter was a pain. However, after making a few I find woodworking is pretty fun and I plan to make bigger projects in the future. I have sold a few on Facebook marketplace which is pretty cool but not a big focus for me.

Here are a couple of planters I've made. I'm quite proud of them honestly!
