In my part of the country, maple, yellow birch, ash and poplar is very common, so that's what I use!

It's made out of birds eye maple and walnut

1969 Rockwell Beaver Model 6200 Table saw; they simply don't make them like that anymore, unless you pay 1500$. This thing weights 400 lbs......

Sometimes I saw my own wood on the 14" Band Saw, such as these spalted Maple boards I just finish sawing this week-end
It gives a different look on small wooden boxes or appliqués
A seating bench I have just completed, it's made out of black ash.
