Woodworking Talk - Woodworkers Forum - mpm1696's Album: My Antique Stanley Plane collection - Picture
Picture 13 of 15 from Album My Antique Stanley Plane collection
These long Stanley planes had 2 surnames:
-"Jointer" plane (to use for jointing edge to make wider boards,
-"Try" plane (to "try" as best you can stock surfaces, hence: Tried and true).

From left to right is the;
#6 Jointer Type 11 (1910-18) -some people use this one as a "Jack" or "fore" plane - depends where you're from, I guess, it's 18" long,
#7 Jointer Type 9 (1902-07) - 22" long,
#8 Jointer Type 9 (1902-07) - 24" long equipped with a fence.

I use my planes here as a #6 and #7 Try and a #8 Jointer.
