    Hi Dave,
That's good work, thank you. We certainly get plenty of lead poisoning cases here. I volunteer at Chintimini Wildlife Center in Corvallis. We get at least 1500 patients per year, mostly from this area, but some amount from other parts of the state. About 70% are birds. The majority are injured, sick, or orphaned as a result of human interaction. I would say that we are trying to mitigate that damage.

My first few years, I did mostly repair, maintenance, and construction. After rebuilding all of the rotted flight cages and other structures, I now am the in-house tree climber. We get a number of great horned owlets in the spring and early Summer that have fallen from their nests, either blown out, beginning to branch hop and fell, or nests falling apart. (they usually take over abandoned nests) So I try to get them back up asap. I usually do 6-12 per season.

Anyway, thanks for getting back. Good luck in Minnesota!

Hello - My apologies. I just saw this message. I did live in So. Oregon and I have worked for over a decade with bald and golden eagles - albeit not in Oregon. Most of my work has been in Maine, New Hampshire, NY, and Virginia ( and now recently, Minnesota).

Much of the research I have done has been looking at contaminants (Hg in particular, as well as lead). I have also done a lot of telemetry work to look at migration patterns, etc.

If I still lived in Or, I would love to catch up. My wife, son, and I moved this past summer to Minnesota for a job. What Rehab center do you work for??
