A gift for my mother. This was a set of measuring spoons I bought for her in a gift shop at the hotel by a lake where we went for a Christmas tree show. I made the plaque to hang them on from a piece of 1x6 red oak, shaped and routed to size and finished with Minwax Golden Oak stain, and spray finished with multiple coats of Minwax brand polyurethane. I painted the sunflowers in between layers of polyurethane to encapsulate the paint for preservation of it and to prevent it from absorbing into the wood or washing away with cleaning. It was done with simple acrylic craft paint. Brass cup hooks were added for the spoons to hang on. Keyhole slots were routed into the back to flush mount it to the wall with hidden screws. She loved it and it now hangs in her oak kitchen, a perfect match to her cabinets.
