Woodworking Talk - Woodworkers Forum - Duane Bledsoe's Album: My completed projects - Picture
Picture 23 of 23 from Album My completed projects
This was a display cabinet built to house a very expensive collection of 21 electric train engines for my father-in-law. Made from poplar, finished with Minwax Early American stain, and a very very cheap, but with surprisingly good results, top coat of clear SPRAY PAINT! Up close and personal, you'd never know it wasn't finished with something much better. I rubbed the finish with 4000 grit steel wool and recoated lightly a second time and produced a very smooth, slick, satin finish in the end.

For more pics of the build process, and to see the minor routing disaster that occurred during the build, as well as the fix for this, check out the following two thread links detailing these things.
