    Thanks for the response. I opted to use a larger piece of mesquite--took forever to get round since I went a little off center and was kind of odd shaped. Now I'm waiting for epoxy/inlay to set up, it's just the nature of mesquite to have internal cracks and voids that just "show up", then I'll figure what's going to be bottom and get a tenon made.

    I use about 12 inch diameter x 16 inches tall everything depends on how heavy the person was an how tall the person was, I like to hollow then to 1/4 inch thickness on the wall an leave 2 inches on the bottom, you can go either way with the grain, call me at 912-882-8501 if you want an I can help you throw it
