Yes, cut from sassafras strips demonstrating the quality of thickness cuts after a joke was made about the thin strips being used for weaving baskets.

Sliced a couple/several 2" qtr sawn boards then turned on edge and lined grain up with blade (works best). to D as you call it, I laid several strips out like astrick and in this case tied center together then turned up ends and started weaving. The hard part is the first couple rows keeping lined up and together. Works best if green or strips dampened as weavers do, same principle, larger scale !!!
