I don't know how useful these coasters actually are. After all, they're treated to resist soaking up water. But a good coaster absorbs water to prevent runoff. But, at the least, they look cool. I used various species of wood, including cedar, pine, wenge, purple heart, padauk, hard maple, mahogany,
