You all were a big help with my original bed project idea so I thought you might be able to help me identify what type of hinge (or concoction) would work best in this situation:
I switched plans and am building my bed as shown here
. The only modification is that the height will be approximately 30" tall. I am raising the bed up about a 1/2 inch by putting 4x4 posts in the corners and bolting the four "foundation" walls (3/4" red oak plywood) to the 4x4 posts. The top of the posts will be flush with the top of the walls internally so you will only see the bottom 1/2" of the posts.
Here's my dilemma. I want one whole side (wall) of the bed to swing open. The wall that I want to open is 80" x 30". This is the reason for the bed being raised a 1/2". I want everything completely concealed and flush so I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this. At the very least, I would like the hinge to be concealed.
After thinking about it, maybe the best way would be velcro all the way around and just take the panel/wall off whenever needed and just stick it back on as needed.
I was trying to think of a way to have an internal lock such as this
but not sure how strong that will be. I could always buy a heavier duty magnetic lock but those need to be wired.
I am open to all opinions and suggestions.
Thank you in advance!
