Alexey Pajitnov is a Russian computer programmer who designed "Tetris" based on his childhood experience playing an American puzzle game called "Pentominos". "Pentominos" was created by the same guy who made checkers, Solomom.W.Golomb. There happen to be a plethora of puzzle games based on fitting blocks together, it's a concept popular to not only gamers but mathematicians. Heck things such as Tangram puzzles date back to the Song dynasty and the earliest patent for a solid dissection puzzle was made in nineteen seventeen. It's not a new concept nor is it an exclusive one. The original poster of this thread was talking about Tetris, and as of such I made the comment I did. I honestly don't know why you're being so pissy about this mate. If you'd like to argue further (for whatever reason?) I'd highly suggest doing that via PM rather than publicly. Cheers, -T |
@unburled I too was wanting to do something similar and amongst the other projects I found was the Soma couch. It's not that original of an Idea I'm sure but still sort of neat/different.
