Table Leg Attachment

I'm having an issue with how I wanna attach the legs to a desk I am making my wife. It's an L-shaped desk and the way I designed it the tabletop is a 2x4 construction like you would see in a general work table. The problem I am running into is I don't think there will be enough stability or surface contact to keep it stable. The table leg I designed is square on top and has 3/4 of it sawed off to leave portion sticking up in one of the corners. I planned on putting some screws through the nub, but was wondering if there was another way I could reinforce it. Thanks in advance.
