Pedestal Table Design

I was just commissioned to build a 60" round pedestal table. The design I was given is for a hexagonal pedestal. I was going to glue up a blank that is 6"x6" and cut the hexagon from this. Is this going to be a big enough pedestal to support the table top? The base is going to be approx 30". This is my first time buildng anythying like this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Measure twice, cut once, cut again, swear, throw useless piece into wall, drive to lumber yard, yell because its now closed, take up knitting as new hobby.

If you are referring to the typical oak table with the claw foot type legs the hexagonal pedestal is made hollow in order to bolt the legs on from the inside. There is also multiple places you can just buy the pedestals and legs. http://search.vandykes.com/search?vi...table+pedistal
