Moulding plane for tool handles?

What you guys think could this my idea work in practice.
You have tool handle /let's say simple hammer/ and when you split it in half by eye you get two identical parts.
Now what if it posible to build plane that will do one half.
And after that half is finished you could easy switch to other half?
Sorry for lame drawing.
