Help attaching a star to my roof

So Iím trying to figure out how to attach this star to the roof of my house. I would like to avoid nailing or drilling in to my house if possible. Any thoughts on how I can anchor it to my roof? Thought about attaching it to a 2x4 and having four legs come off the 2x4 which I think will take care of the left to right but not sure about the other direction. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Since it's not a (I think) permanent mount, I would make a 2x4 base that simply lays over top of the roof. I can't draw a pic but it would be 2 oblong 2x4 boxes that lay on each side of the roof crest. (attach your star to them) I would then put weight on the sides (sand bags maybe?) to hold it down. That's my first thought, hope it helps. :smile3:

Yeah, what Steve said below. Or, if you don't have/know someone that can weld, you couold make a base out of conduit. (metal or PVC) Just saying...

Do you have the means of fabricating and welding steel?

Where on your roof do you want to place this? Is this star heavy or light?

Look at weather vanes and see what mounts they use.

What velocity of wind is expected at this time of year in your area?
