Farm table leg idea

1 Attachment(s)
So I have the top built, now on to the legs. I have reclaimed 6x6s and would like to do the following.

The gray part includes a 6x6 metal plate attaching the vertical and horizontal legs and spans the entire length of the table.

My question is to whether or not there is enough support without completing the 'X'. With the rounded horizontal leg, it would be hard to attach the bottom portion of the 'X'.

Please give me your thoughts and concerns, and or ideas.

Thanks -Joe

The design looks good to me.

Run a screw up through the bottom of the horizontal leg, make sure it runs past the tenon and into the main bulk of the wood (the strongest point). If you're using 6x6 wood maybe use 8" screws? And pre-drill the hole so you don't get any splits.

Also lots of glue!

Why 6X6 legs? That seems a bit massive.

Sometimes, not just in tables but in other structures also, the massiveness can work against the strength of the table.
Just curious.
