Question Techniques for neat and clean staining?

Our back door was in dire need of refinishing. I stripped it, retreated it, restained it, and resealed it. It was one of the first projects I did for the older house we bought last year, and I think it turned out great!

It being the first time I've actually stained something in a long time, I found a few drip bumps on the edges after the process was complete. Is there an easy way to take care of them? I would assume just "wiping it away" would work, but I thought I would ask rather than cause myself future problems.

On the edge drips...

If you are there QUICKLY, just a quick wipe with a clean cloth is enough. If the stain drips have been there for more than a minute, the clean cloth should be damp with the appropriate thinner.

Use the right tool for the job.
