spraying issues

I am spraying some hydricoate black poly with a Earlex 5000..I tried a 1.0 and a 1.5 tip but still got a spitting type spraywith a small spray fan..about 4 "...any suggestions?

A couple of things to try. I don't have that air system, so my suggestions are general.

Thinning the mix...5-10% (or as needed).
Adjusting the fluid control down.
Increasing the air pressure. There's a happy balance (fluid/air) to get proper atomization.
Make sure the gun is clean.
