Sanding epoxy

Hi Guys,

Last winter I made my first woodworking project with my dad in his workshop : a nice and clean looking tabletop Having never worked with Epoxy, we decided to finish the table top with a thick layer of it, to give a nice clean look. A year after, sadly the table cracked. So now, I was wondering, I want to change it's look a little bit since it's cracked now and I'd like it to be a little less clean, just a little more industrial.

My question : What happens if I sand the epoxy, just a little layer. I want to have a matte finish, more than a glossy finish. Do you think it would make it?

Here is a photo of the table top.

Thank you

The reason for the crack is you have wood running in perpendicular to the top. With expansion and contraction it's going to crack with a thick finish. The only way you can get away with it is with a thin finish. It might crack but won't show very much.
