Reviving Wood Floor

Hi:

We have several rooms in our house (8 years old) that have wood floors. Builder did a great job on the floors and finish. But recently have noticed in the kitchen (highest traffic room) that the poly finish seems to be worn. I've cleaned thoroughly but doens't get much better. Wife thinks that we should get them refinished but I was hoping someone might have a suggestion for something that migh protect and bring out the shine again. Any thoughts/ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

A comlete refinish can be a pretty big job. Can you clean and scuff the surface and just apply a couple fresh coats of poly in sections?

I try to educate my customers for this exact reason. It sounds to me like you've worn through the top part of the finish but are not to raw wood yet. You should be able to get a flooring professional to come in, scuff the floors and apply a new coat of finish. I offer this service to my customers at a very reduced rate verses a complete sand and refinish. Most flooring professionals are dustless which means when they leave there will be very little to no dusting afterwards.

Do one thing at a time, do it well, then move on.
