Food safe clear coat for maple

I just sanded down a maple tabletop. I plan on using it in the kitchen for extra counter space and a prep surface. I will NOT be cutting on it or prepping any meats or anything like that. What I would like to be able to roll dough (pizza/pasta/bread).

Is a polyurethane clear coat OK?
