Finish a 15-lite Simpsom exterior door

I have a new front door that needs to be finished. I was thinking of a stain or poly but am not sure. The door is pretty much in the shade all the time. A friend of mind suggested using the same coating as on my mahogany deck, Penefin (spelling may be off). Any ideas?

I've had too many bad experiences with using varnishes, spars, and poly's on exterior doors. I would recommend Penofin red label. It's an easy application, and maintenance finish, and is high in UV. It comes in clear or color choices.

Actually I meant to say porch

I have used the penefin red label, cedar tint, on my porch and it looks great. I thought it would look good on the new front door, too. But no one at either Simpson or Penefin would commit themselves to saying yes or no to my questions. I am not sure how it might effect the wood around the windows, if it might seep in and loosen the glass somehow.
