dry spots after 2 seal coats epoxy resin

Greetings. I am finishing a slab of poplar wood. After applying two seal coats of 2 part epoxy resin, I am left with a few "dry" spots. The rest of the slab has sealed nicely. I am confident I was able to apply enough epoxy to seal the spots. After leveling and sanding clean with 220 sandpaper, with the grain no other products touched the woods surface. The epoxy resin was mixed properly and applied evenly. I used a torch to clean up air bubbles and was careful not to burn the epoxy. Both wood and epoxy were at the same temp (70F). Application was done indoors in dust free room.
Does anyone know why this happened and what can I do to fix it.
thank you Alex

As thick as the finish is I think the problem is something else. What kind of sandpaper did you use for between the coats sanding and how did you clean it before applying the last coat? It looks like some kind of a chemical reaction than a dry spot.
