I have mine running on the floor. I usually push my saw off to the side when not in use, so it's not in a high traffic area. I'm thinking of zip tieing the cord to the Vac hose, to keep the cord away from the table saw wheels. If it doesn't work I can always snip the cables and try plan B.

Cords running across a floor in a clean shop is generally not a problem as they lay flat on the floor, the tripping problem comes in when cords are draped over other stuff on the floor and there is a space under them to catch your toe.
