Yesterdays Turnings

I made 2 bowls yesterday. One was a segmented bowl I started before my lathe broke a few months ago. It is maple and walnut glued up. The second is cherry that my uncle gave me at Christmas time.

Nice. I really like the walnut/maple one.

That bowl was perfect right up until that last cut...

Thanks, I was surprized at how easy it was to make. It was easy to turn too. What finish should i use on it? I haven't put any finishes on my bowls yet other than olive oil.

Joe, I wouldn't use olive oil, may eventually get rancid. If you want just an oil finish, try walnut oil. Specialty food stores have it, or try Mahoneys or Doctors Woodshop versions. I like Drs high build friction polish for my bowls.

That bowl was perfect right up until that last cut...

Nice bowls!

I've used mineral oil a bit, and then SDF turned me on to the Doctor's stuff...

I use it quite a bit now!

p

...ever notice how "I'm sorry" and "I apologize" mean the same thing, unless you are at a funeral..?
