Wood Wine Bottle Holder

I'd Like to turn a table-top wine cooler for a 1.5 Liter wine bottle.
This would be a hollowed cylinder approximately 5.25" wide and 10" high with 3/4" wall.

What wood would you recommend for this project?
I'm thinking Oak, Cedar, Redwood????

Personally, I would find a liner that works, and turn something to go around that...

Keep the ice/water off of the wood...

Good luck, and post pics!

...ever notice how "I'm sorry" and "I apologize" mean the same thing, unless you are at a funeral..?
